The rules for buying a spot on the board.
detectiveboard.lol is a single web page laid out as a corkboard. It holds a fixed number of exhibits — the pinned photos, clippings, notes and cards you see on it. Each exhibit is an advertising space.
When you pay, you are buying the right to display a name, a one-line description and a link on one lead. You are not buying traffic, clicks, sales, a permanent position, or any outcome at all.
Read that last point again. This is an auction, not a rental. Being outbid is the normal, expected outcome, not a fault. If you are not comfortable with your listing disappearing when someone bids higher, do not bid.
Listings are screened before payment, and anything questionable is held until a person reviews it. The following are not allowed:
Query strings are stripped from every link, so affiliate and tracking parameters do not work here.
We may take a listing off the board if it breaks section 3, if enough visitors report it, if it becomes a broken or redirected link, or if a payment is charged back.
If we remove a listing for breaking the rules, you are not refunded. If we remove one for our own reasons — a change to the board, a mistake on our side — we refund the amount you bid for that lead.
This is a small, independently run site. We do not promise uptime, and we may change the exhibits, prices, or layout. If the site shuts down for good, we will say so publicly and refund any listing paid for in the previous 30 days.
The site is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything connected to this site is limited to the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months.
We do not check, endorse, or take responsibility for the sites people link to. Follow links at your own judgement.
Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, which acts as the merchant of record. Your card details are handled by them and never reach our servers. Taxes are calculated and remitted by them where required. Their terms apply to the payment itself.
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Changes are not retroactive — the terms in force when you paid are the ones that govern that purchase.
Short version: purchases are final, with three exceptions.
When your payment clears, your listing goes on the board immediately. That is the whole product, delivered at once. For that reason we do not refund because you changed your mind, because you were outbid, or because the listing did not bring you the traffic or sales you hoped for.
Some listings are held for review after payment. During that time the lead is reserved for you and nobody else can bid on it. If we reject it, you get a full refund. If we approve it, it goes on the board and normal terms apply.
Email us at the address below with the payment receipt from Dodo Payments and which lead it was for. We answer within 3 working days. Approved refunds go back to the original payment method and usually take 5–10 working days to reach you.
What we store, and what we do not.
All of that except the payment reference is shown publicly on the board — that is the point of the product.
Your card number, your name on the card, and your billing address go straight to Dodo Payments. They never touch our servers. We could not leak them if we tried.
Brand icons are fetched through our own server from Google's public favicon service, so your browser does not talk to Google directly. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. When you click a listing we send you on without passing your referrer.
Only Dodo Payments, to take the payment, and our hosting provider, which stores the server this runs on. We do not sell data, and there is nothing here worth selling.
Listing details stay while the listing is on the board, plus seven years for the payment record, which tax rules require. Ask us and we will remove a listing's public details sooner; the payment record has to stay.
Email us to see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. We answer within 30 days. If you are in the UK, EU, or India, the relevant data protection law applies and we will honour it.
